Lummi Island Wildlife
In addition to the gorgeous scenery and rich history, Lummi Island is the home to a variety of amazing wildlife. We have many birds and raptors, whales, fish, seals, sea lions, otters and so much more!
Remember to be a quiet and courteous guest when around areas of suspected wildlife. Also, please refrain from feeding or touching any animals.
Not All Wildlife Needs Our Help
Every June through August, nearly two thousand seals are born around the islands. If you come across a seal pup on the shore during this season please do not move or touch them and stay 100 yards away. Instead, contact the stranding hotline at 360-966-8845 .
Fawns are often left alone for several hours while their mothers go off to feed, and this is normal behavior. If you see a fawn alone, please do not touch or feed it. Instead seek professional advice and contact The Whatcom Humane Society Wildlife Hotline at 360-966-8845.
