How to Reach Lummi Island
I-5 connects Seattle, Bellingham, and Vancouver B.C.,—the turn-off to Lummi Island is slightly north of Bellingham at I-5, exit #260. Look for the sign that says "Slater Road" and "Lummi Island." Once off the freeway, turn west, drive about three miles to the signal light at Haxton Way and the Silver Reef Casino, then turn left. Continue on Haxton Way through the Lummi Indian Reservation to Gooseberry Point (about seven miles). Drive slowly at reduced speed signs; this is a residential area. Cars for the ferry line take turns using the two right-hand lanes by the dock. If there’s a long line, the ferry may run back and forth every twenty minutes regardless of the published schedule, so standby.
There is no gas station on Lummi Island, so plan accordingly.
There is no restroom at Gooseberry Landing (the mainland side ferry dock).
